You forgot the part about how it has all hand controls built and designed by the owner. A really smart guy who was also cool enough to stop his busy setting-up to talk to a few guys about his really amazing car.
I talked to him about it and it is a fully manual transmission which he made to be shifted via a clutch lever (like a motorcycle) and two buttons, with the left hand. The right hand does all the steering.
The lever and buttons are on a joystick-type apparatus that is connected to the throttle and brake, in such a way that moving it in the X- and Y- axis will allow the driver to “left foot brake.” It also had an e-brake but honestly i was still trying to understand the other stuff while he was explaining how it worked. Something about a light sensor activating the clutch when he pulled it.
Anyway, I thought this deserved more than a lazy “look, an engine” comment.
